Helping Hands Work & Wellness
Integrating Upper Extremity and Spine Therapies with Wellness Spa Services

Hand Therapy

You use your hands everyday to perform simple and complex movements... from picking up a coffee cup to french braiding a child's hair. If you are a musician, your hands play the keys that create melodies. If you are an athlete, your hands allow you to grasp the ball to make the final score. If you are a carpenter, your hands grip the tools that build countertops and cabinets.

But what happens when a traumatic injury suddenly amputates your finger or your hand? Life is temporarily altered and, without surgical and therapeutic intervention, perhaps permenantly altered. At Helping Hands Work & Wellness, our certified hand therapists not only get you back to full function, but also support you through the emotional aspect of your injury.

HHW Hand Therapists provide the following areas of evaluation and treatment:
  • Complete musculoskeletal exam of the upper extremities
  • Reduction of swelling and inflammation
  • Wound and scar management
  • Custom splint fabrication
  • Advanced exercise and strengthening programs
  • Instruction in activity and work station modifications
  • Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE's)
  • Joint protection techniques and energy conservation
  • Greenleaf EVAL PPI

Hand Therapy is an advanced specialty and provides rehabilitation for traumatic injuries, overuse conditions, arthritis or chronic conditions of the hand and upper body (elbow, shoulder, neck). A hand therapist is an occupational therapist or physical therapist with minimum 5 years experience, who has successfully completed the "Hand Therapy Certification Exam".

Certified Hand Therapists provide reliable and valid objective assessments for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions effecting the upper extremity. These findings are used to establish a plan of care that will lead to a shorter duration of treatment with less cost to all involved.

Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy

HHW's physical therapists specialize in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries primarily involving the spine and/or an upper extremity. An active approach to exercise, return to work/home activities is emphasized. This is blended with advanced manual techniques and modalities to enhance effectiveness of treatment.

HHW Physical Therapists provide the following areas of evaluation and treatment:
  • Acute and chronic spine conditions
  • Soft tissue sprain/strain
  • Joint injuries
  • Post-operative spine rehabilitation
